Calculate the approximate number of calories you should consume to maintain your weight.  This number is based on your age, height, weight, and daily activity level.  When determining your activity consider the level that you are 85% of the time. For example, if you work at the computer 40-50 hours a week, watch a lot of television, and ride your exercise bicycle 30 minutes a week your activity would probably be light.

Mostly office work, exercise 30 minutes to 1 hour per week, watch television 15 hours+ a week, walk less than 1 mile a day      
Moderate          
Walking, stairclimbing during the day, exercise 3 hours a week, play recreationally, do housework     
Heavy               physical labor such as digging, heavy construction, planned vigorous activities, athlete
